There are probably 20 or 30 E30s dumped at the airport in Dubai, by fleeing ex-pats.
Why the fuck anyone would ever consider going to such a backwards shithole is beyond me.
££££££££
The weather?
It's not just the opportunity to earn some paper.
The missus and I have always maintained that it's not about the money. Tax-free money is great, but her initial offer came in about two weeks before it rained non-stop for nearly seven weeks.
That was a key decision-maker for me. I've had enough of this fucking dogshit weather.
Also, the only time I spent living abroad was six months in the alps pouring pints for groups of battered englishmen and yentzing toff birds.
Not really what you'd call "living".
I see it as the perfect opportunity to live and work abroad. I have no surviving grandparents, my parents are in good health and family-wise everything is as good as it gets.
Why the fuck not? For my line of work, this country's on its' knees so go to where it's stronger and reap the benefits.
#Immigrants FTW!

Beg to differ. Wish I had done a season.

As a potential future emigrant I concur on the weather.....word of caution though, I have several friends that are working in Dubai for very large numbers and all of them can't fucking stand the place. The weather is truly unpleasant for large parts of the year and cost of living is insane. Think 130 quid plus for a bt of wine in a restaurant you might pay 20 quid for here. I'm sure it will still be exciting for a bit but have an exit strategy!
Locals are apparently arsehole too!
Good luck dude.(Oh and I would take the car...probably won't cost much more than 1500 to ship it?)

I have a couple of mates who're there and they said there's a honeymoon period, after which you detest the place but then things mellow out somewhat.
I have a plan b already in place.

If you don't take the car, I'd be happy to take it out once in a while when you're gone.

Can you store it for me?
-
• #12083
I thought it was at papa B&D's?
-
• #12084
It is, but his motor's coming back and mine no longer qualifies for the space.
So, can you store it for me?
-
• #12085
No. Mine doesn't even fit in my garage.

On the plus side B&D, I know a guy who works in Bahrain. Tools around in some v8 yanktank as petrol is peanuts. Also did a trackday at the Bahrain GP circuit in a Caterham. Said it was super cheap for a full day of hooning!

I have done my research and can get a long-term rental on a Dodge Charger/Challenger for next to nothing.

Challengers look nicer but the Charger is a much better car. All is relative obviously, but rental Dodges have been an order more sophisticated and nice to drive than Chevy equivalents on my last few visits to the US.
(keyless entry and ignition were a bit confusing but I am a technological dumbass)

242:
Here you can see the Corvette Z06 gearbox and transaxle which they are going to use, and just how much of the car has been cut out:
This is a) going to take ages, and b) be awesome.
They are using the Volvo V8, I think the plan is currently for NA, they were going to run a whiteblock I6, turbo and super charged.
Let's be honest. There's only one reason.
MAD CASH.
