Probably a blessing then.

WARNING: Reader's Wives
Finally have my Surly LHT build on the road. Mosquito put it together so I could C2W the first grand, it's got a mix of Tiagra and XT, Tektro CR720 cantis (w/ v-brake pads), Ambrosio touring wheels with XT and ambrosio hubs rear and front, Nitto Radonneur bars, brooks b17, shimano spd / flat pedals with blb cages and straps, sks guards, continental touring plus 700x32 tires, and has a carradice nelson on it at the moment. it's great to ride. bit of a beast, but once it's going it keeps a good pace. loved the practicality this weekend. Pic taken in HH centre!

Here is my medium sized Wald basket, as you can see, tis' a bit big, but useful!
Definitely don't need one that big! I'll stick with the small I think, only need it for carry normal shoes to change into and a few bits and bobs when I'm shooting on location.

That Guercotti!

the smallest and cheapest one from TFG seemed to fit your bill nicely given the description of the item you want to carry.

shimano spd / flat pedals with blb cages and straps, sks guards,
When using SPD's do the cages not drag on the ground. I know this set up is possible I've just never known anyone to actually use it.
Nice bike though. Very practical.

they would do yeah, big time, particularly with that low bottom bracket - I didn't fit them for instant switch , more for quick switch through taking the cages off, it's only four little crosshead screws and you're laughing.
fanks!

it might work with minimalist straps on a single speed with a high bb but even then you'd grate them fairly regularly.

what is that and am I likely to be able to afford one?

Finally, a functional bike that isn't a)retro-french-fetish or b)ugly.

Orange + TwoToneBlue? WTF is wrong with people's eyes?
:)
My least favourite Feather for sure although the dynamo cable routing is pretty tidy.

I was considering the Gulf colours for a bike.
-
• #2319
When the only alternative is pastel blue, Honjo mudguards and honey leather on everything, I'll happily take the Gulf colours.
-
• #2320
I really think it's not the paint that makes a GT40 look great.
-
• #2321
It'd look much worse in pastel blue with hammered wheelarches and a leather windscreen protector.
-
• #2322
No, but that paint does look awesome on pretty much every car it goes on.
Porsche 917 in Gulf colours would have Lucifer yawning like a Priest in a boys primary school
-
• #2323
917 looks better in Martini colours, as do many other cars. Shame Martini aren't interested in sponsoring much any more.
-
• #2324
Disagree on the 917, I'd agree that the various Lancia's that wore the Martini livery would have looked stupid in Gulf colours though.
