Tweaked the bar angle a smidge before setting off today, and now have a comfy riding position without my wrists at an odd angle. Shifting is much easier now.
My previous experience of panniers was riding to Cornwall as a teenager and my ss 29er. Both bikes handled like utter pigs when laden. Was pleasantly surprised by the boardman, it does feel a little light at the front and swerving is a little erratic, but it does not feel like the 29er which had the handling characteristics of an oil tanker when turning.
The ride is harsher than I am used to. Need to find a battery and will then install cadence meter. Am used to riding compact gearing, on the road, xc not race gearing off road, and 66 GI on the fixie twatter. Big cranks feel like hard work.
TBH I would suggest the bike as a winter commuter with no hesitation. It rides harsher than my bikes so am now really looking forwards to see how it compares to the lynskey as many of the components are v similar.
Hope hubs are brilliant on canal paths, as I discovered yesterday. Stop pedalling and pedestrians will hear you coming.
