I see many people riding expensive bikes without a helmet. My first thoughts are not "what a tool." I would rather people ride bikes first and foremost, cheap or expensive.
Cyclicsts on average live 3-4 years longer and have considerable health benefits from the activity, though of course this does come with a potential risk of head injury. This health risk is hugely exceeded by the health benefit.
In the same way as nearly all sporting activity has a potential risk but a greater gain.
If it is not about safety, what is your concern - that the people in the pictures are not getting the aero benefit of an expensive helmet after their expenditure on a bike?
