Wendy H is 37 and so this was her very last chance. Roswell might have been ill but her performances, all world records, do not seem to have been significantly impacted. The three young ones seem to have bonded in a team in a way that Wendy H does not. Put more simply, Rowsell and her back story are far more marketable than Wendy H and so if the choice was between two equal athletes, Rowsell wins every time. We also have a team for the future. Rowsell, at 22, has three Olympics to go before she is Wendy H's age.

If her ability is as good as she claimed they could have used her in the second round and all this bad press would have been avoided. It would've been even better in fact as NI would have a medal. So I don't believe this marketable 'wonder team' guff.
