I always feel I need more range when planning a bike in theory, sat at my desk. Yet feel tighter gear spacing is more important when I'm actually out riding. Its never striaght forward to second guess these things.

I also want similar thing.

tighter gear is great to have, but the range would be lovely, only way is having a compact (46/30) with a 12-27t cassette that'll give me almost as much range as a hybrid.
