The Frame came amazingly well packaged (no nasty surprises) with little goodies stuck to it, like Feeder Fish to a Shark. A Super Record Headset, DA Track BB, Araya 650c Rim, and the beautiful EM Panto'd Stem....
Such a beautiful Frame and lots of nice detail.
As you can imagine, this purchase has wiped me out. Her Majesty's finest at Customs certainly weren't distracted enough by the Olympics to miss a trick as well. So, it's a Parts-Bin build for now, plus a couple bargain buys to get me rolling. I managed to hold on to some parts from a previous build (mainly Dura Ace 7700) which, I am informed is what most riders were using at the time, so period correct and just happens to be one of my favourite Groupsets. A few other Japanese parts, Nitto Pursuits, MKS Pedals, Izumi chain, FiveGold TT protector add to the mix.
I had a make-do rear, but no 650c front wheel hanging about the place, so spent the last couple weeks hunting for something to get me going. The Corima Aero (shod with a sweet Veloflex Record Tub) came up and then a Shamal, which I couldnt resist...
So, next up is to save for a nice polished Cog, decide on bars (position and maybe cut), grips/tape and maybe a Dura Ace TT ring. Most important is to get a pair of Dura Ace Low Flange Hubs to build up onto these puppies...
...and so, this Eddy Merckx's journey around the world continues
