so, the ledus wheelus, how much do you get stung by customs for a pair of them?
I'm very tempted...

I've ordered one of the Ledus Wheelus too... I have a real weakness for such things, I've tried several valve lights (beware cheap HK/chinese ones they make only cost a couple of quid but basically don't work, the Mathmos ones were expensive and disappointing), have the spoke reflectors too. really looking forward to getting the Ledus Wheelus, a bonus seems to be easy off switch (taking the battery out). I am concerned about vulnerability/theft though. will see.

Err, nothing, I think as they come from near the EU...
Also if anyone wants a testimonial the tnrc guys were very impressed on the bath ride :-)

Those are reflectors, not lights.

Another vote for the 3M Spoke Reflectors. I got some at Lidl and then more from Halfords.
Also have a fibreflare rear light on the rear pannier that gives good visibility as it's much more omnidirectional than traditional rear lights.

Saw this the other day, not quite as cheap as reflectors but could be good for visibility/budget-tron-cycle shenanigans

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=64511I've got one of these on my front wheel so cars poking out of junctions see it early (as well as a cateye on the bars and a cherry bomb on me helmet). Only problem so far is drunk people seem to get very lary if they see you, some twat threw a bottle at me last night...
I like the Ledus one but doesn't look very waterproof, can't see any mention of it on the website?

I asked them they said:
Devices are not lacquered, but they do work in a light rain and they're fully washable with water, brush and soap (of course the battery must be removed)
Bumpy roads can be a problem, but for the 4 months of riding no batteries were lost, no devices were lost or broken :))) The worst thing that can happen - it may turn off (high speed + big bump).
the circuit's exposed so I guess it might not work in heavy rain, but then the water doesn't hurt it either (since you can wash them)

I've had it running in the rain all summer, not a problem :-) The circuit is actually coated in some kind of plastic.

cool :) really looking forward to getting mine...

Only if you're looking at a new wheelset really

or just get a load of that grey super-reflective stickyback 3M film and apply to existing wheels? pretty sure someone on the forum has done it..

Yeah but that could turn out utterly shite.

My Ledus lights turned up today. The worksmanship looks great and they look pretty good in the underground garage.
Gonna take the bike down to the seafront tonight (if its dry) and ponce around with them. Hopefully impressing the lady bikers... :-D

what about tynans fluorescent paste ( no really ) just slap that on various parts of the bike and hook up to a battery BINGO up in lights

Another vote for the FibreFlare. Very good all round visibility- but its pretty important to change the battery every so often as it dims a lot rather than goes off- so until you put a new battery in you don't see how dim its become. If you see what i mean.

Oh, that's a shame. Since added them to my steed I've been propositioned for dirty, no holds barred shenanigans 5 times already!
However they were all blokes... Maybe I should ride somewhere else than Dukes Mound and the nudist beach in Brighton?

My fiance gave me some monkeylectric lights a few years ago and they are awesome, they are fantastically visible. The only danger is they look so cool that if you ride past any reflective surfaces you may fall off or ride into something while trying to look at the patterns.

Just had a thought. Could you not be in a pickle with the law if someone was watching the pretty patterns on your wheels and runs into something? Would it not be your fault in some way, not so much for EL or anything of that ilk but the monkeyelectric ones are iffy, I think.

Why would it the cyclist's fault? If the driver is not evolved enough to make a decision not to stare at pretty light then it's the driver's fault.

I guess. I just wouldn't like to be the brunt of a very good lawyer, claiming that my flishyflashy wheels were there to distract drivers.

It reminds me a little bit about an article I read on some hipster news website where a Dutch girl was stopped policemen and told to change her outfit because her legs were a distraction to drivers lol. She totally did too!
Now back in stock. Just ordered two of them, comes to £60 with P&P.
