Going through the last of the stuff to get gears on bob.
Looking at the frame, i have no idea how i'm going to route cables on it, theres nowhere to route the cables on the top tube or down tube, no brazeons etc, am i going to have to get clamp on cable stops or something?
On that particular vintage of Bob Jackson there might be a brazed-on wedge to stop the downtube shifter clamp from slipping:
Similarly, the top tube probably used band-on cable guides:
I can see it has the cable guides on top of the BB shell as well:

^^^ Thanks.
Next issue is one I've asked before. Think I could file off that lip to allow downtube cable stops to fit? Tried cutting down the resin ones but can never get a good fit without them being pulled out of position.
Alternatively, I could puppy kill the frame and use a clamp.
Not alone in this issue apparently

on a similar note if I were to use a set of modern 105cranks or similar with a single ring mounted on the inside, would a get a reasonable chainline?
Sorry if this is obvious and didn't need to be stated, but it did when I first tried it!
If using double or triple cranks, remember to put the ring you're using on the middle ring position, or which ever place gives you best line to the middle of the cassette. -

Ah regal! excellent! i always wondered what the little triangle was for, yes it has that, wonder if i could convert something that uses that to just be a cable guide..
and mine has the one in the last picture which goes off to the rear derailler i assume

It does, along the top of the chainstay to the brazed-on cable stop.

and then the larger one on the non drive side is for the front deraileur?
So i just need to get some sort of guide for the rear brake and then something to keep the gear cables along the down in line, sorted

Say=see?
They're on the head tube.

Is that to me?

Yup.
Might have missed which groupset you're planning to put on it - how many speeds? Is the dropout spacing (O.L.D.) wide enough?

Its a 9speed 105 brifters and rear deraileur, got a matching front deraileur that i believe should work as its friction shift anyway (shimano 600 tricolor like cranks)
9 speedy shimano cassette on shimano 105 hubs
I couldnt slide the rear wheel in, as the cassette hit the stays but i didn't have much time to try it, else i'll need to get it cold set

Rogan:
take a set of clamp on shifters like these
[/URL]
remove the levers and fit the cable stops/adjusters you linked to. they are made to go on the down tube lever bosses so should fit the ones on the clamp too.simple and (relatively) beautiful.

I have some NOS Shimano Arabesque ones like these lying around:
They don't have the point shape like the Campagnolo ones, so if your braze-on wedge is a v-shape (like the one on the orange Bob) then the Campag ones will look better.

The ones i used were 600 non- arabesque shifters. i had to take some washers out to get the screws to fit

Will message you if C.B doesnt find his/dont suit thanks regal

Nice bike! Didn't realise Spotter actually has been seen by anyone
