For what they'll probably cost I'd stick to Omegas and CXP12s.

^^^^^^^What kinda rim is that? I'm currently debating what rims to lace to some Suzue Promax's I recently bought from Japan. TB14's look nice and have the "clinchular" profile on 23's (490g), Open pros are light and are apparently the shizzle (430g), and Velocity A23's are light and apparently super strong (420g). Leaning towards A23's due to lightness. Any one got a set of these built up?

Does the height of the inflated tyre reduce much on a wider rim compared to a narrower one, or is it insignificant? Thinking about clearance distance. Might get away with 28mm tyres on a wider rim vs 23 or 25 on a narrow one.

It does, 25c tyres sit lower on Velocity A23 rims (similar width to TB14) and felt like it's as comfortable as a 28c at 75psi, I personally think they're great for track bicycle with clearance too tight to have a comfortable bigger and faster tyres for the road.
With wider rims you wouldn't even need to go 28c.

any heavy riders using these tb14's? (90kg+)
would like some help choosing a rim!

FWIW if you want to go wider again but with a similar look these Halo rims are a bargain.
They're a fatty-friendly 24mm wide.

I'm 6'3" and about 14 and half stone, been running them for about a year and a half. All fine.

Make sure they're build very well, the strength lie in the wheelbuilding.

Can anyone help - I've ordered some TB14 in the Hard Ano Grey - what brake pads do I need to use for best wear of pad/rim.
I've got salmon koolstops at the moment, will they be okay, or do I need something for a ceramic surface; infact is hard anodized even the same as ceramic?
-
• #173
I've done 300 dry miles using vintage campag Athena pads on the hard ano grey and not a sign of wear

No, just a similar colour.
Regular pads like your Salmons are fine.

^^ DRY MILES is the important bit, I am using swisstop flash pro (green ones) on my anodised archetypes
Too good to pass up really so that's what I've gone for - two rims for only £5 more than a single TB14 so quite pleased.
