I have 719s on pro 2s with ACI and newly Crests on pro2s with DTcomp - both 26" from Merlin. The Crest wheelset weighed in at 1610g with tapes. Thus far they seem strong (only about 100miles) and definately feel faster at about 50g lighter per rim. My reasoning was lighter rims where the weight loss really makes some odds teamed with stronger but very slightly heavier spokes.
The downside is that they are a pig to get new tyres on - once the tyres have stretched it's better but puncture with new tyres and these rims in the field and I think you may be walking home.
I run light tubes 'cos I don't do any technical stuff.
BTW I think Merlin nearly match Hope on wheel prices plus you get to choose exactly what you want and they are truly handbuilt. They do 29s now.
