Also, I'd like to get a fibre flare, do they cope with being carried in everyday bags, ie. Getting squashed against and buried by a variety of objects? Slightly concerned how robust a bendy light is.
I have abused mine no end and it is still holding up well (I am very good at breaking stuff). The bumf that you get when you buy it says not to bend it but I have ignored that, as do most owners AFAIK. The original ones had an issue with the ends pulling off the light bit but as far as I can tell this is now resolved.
i read somewhere they don't like it when left on seat post with no mudguards, but then i bet most lights (unmodded) will struggle.
i think the flares are a good option for second light on the bag. flexi enough to not have to take it off at all.
.
If you have them on the seatpost and they get wet you do have a problem in that water seeps into the battery compartment and shorts the battery so that they drain quickly. I get round this by taking the batteries out and drying them after I have been riding in the wet, to be fair this can happen with any light if seals are not seated correctly at least with this one you get used to checking it.
My fibre flare is my only rear light, I love it and would happily recommend it to anyone.
