  • That sucks. The A23 is quite long, any idea roughly how far into the journey?

All quite standard parts so very difficult if it is being split at all.

  • A few miles South of Bolney http://goo.gl/maps/jvYS

  • A chap on London road today at lunch time with a blue frame/white rim jobby getting told off by a police man for jumping a red light. naughty boy.

  • An absolute beast green Columbus Air tubed geared beauty on the street down to the Old Market in Hove. Was running to work, late as usual, seemed to be unbranded as I ran past. Never seen anything like it. If it's someone on here, it's fucking incredible and I love it.

I've seen her about quite a few times lately, she's never riding it though.

  • Very nice nagasawa njs locked up by the grand

  • A pair of Concorde hipster sleds today on New Road. One avec Spinergy.

  • a bright pink orbit with black wheels locked up on london road today, didnt look to bad actually...

  • Sainsburys on Lewes Road...

Bit weird though. It looked like a fixed but has the brake on the rear wheel.

  • Did they forget to lock it as well?

  • Did they forget to lock it as well?

    Heh... I didn't notice that!

  • It's there loads - I assume a staff member?

  • Dogtemple, that was me and my pink Orbit machine on London Road. She's a cheap date, what can I say? Glad you didn't rail on me for being a hipster!

  • nah thats cool i actually quite liked it despite any hipsteryness, i saw you locking it up was going to say hello but was (supposed to be) "at work"

im building up an orbit frame a lot like yours, it has the same decals, will look pretty similar, minus the pink.

does your frame ride well fixed?

  • It's a good frame imo. It's not overly steep so it doesn't get too uncomfortable and it's quite light I suppose.

It's fine fixed, no problems with pedal clearance or anything but that might be just because I'm used to taking corners a bit wider. I should really build it into a TT/Hill Climber eventually.

There's a few orbits about, I've even seen one with a more riotous paint job than mine. It was fluoro yellow blending into that pink at the joins. Crazy!

Stop me if you see me next time, come and play polo!

Saw her today riding west along Portland Road Hove, nice bike!

Also saw today a contender for the Darwin Awards. Black fixed wheel bike, brakeless, no foot retention.

He was riding along the bike lane on the seafront, someone went to cross it, he had plenty of time but chose to try and ride in front of her instead of behind, this resulted in him nearly hitting a lamp post and then careering into the road, to be greeted by blaring horns and shrieking brakes!

I wanted to stop and give him some friendly advice about the benefit of brakes and foot retention but I was laughing too hard!!

    Muppet!!

  • was it quite a big guy with a shaved head? orange wheels? i keep spotting people with no foot retention these days, i just dont get it, it feels horrible to ride like that

  • the amount of people with no foot retention is stupid, do they think its how a "fixie" is ment to be?

    trendys!!

  • Ive seen this turkey around too, only last saturday, riding down a slope of all things.

awesome, thats good to hear, havnt tried mine yet. i like Pat Sharpe paint jobs. My orbit is currently brown but will be getting powder coated hopefully this week. i'll be starting a project thread on it tomorrow probably.

If i see you again i will say hello

  • A brown Orbit? Never seen one! Pics plz.

I rode fixed brakeless/no foot retention for about 3 months before I wised-up. It was nearly running into the back of a bus that educated me.

I've taken to shouting "Get a brake" at skidders now.

  • ive just got it back from having track ends brazed in, its pretty ropey cosmetically but will be getting it powder coated tomorrow so hopefully will be like new soon. i dont like the colour at all, and dont feel bad about cutting any of the braze ons off either. idea frame for mucking about with really.

its more of a metallic burgundy, closer to what its like in the second photo. got the brazing done at chickens frame emporium in brighton.

  • Hey wow! That welding looks lovely. A great advert for Chicken's that...

That's a nice frame, although I agree about the colour. 531c and powder coat should last you a long time.
