The estates they used in the mid-nineties had a much lower CdA than the saloons, but much less downforce post- Alfa's "look what we found in the boot" sudden massive spoiler moment, hence the move to the saloon.

That always has, and always will make up for their lazy designers drawing round boxes to design cars, besides I think that the V40 is very nice

Riche- Volvo never made a converitble, they are all conversions- looks pretty good though for something knocked up in a shed by a bloke with an angle grinder.

Stitch weld it, reinforce the sills- may as well as you've cut the bugger up.
Or, if it's to be more than a pose-mobile, weld in a cage- that'd stiffen it up nicely.
