The photo I saw was of an articulated trailer and it was suggesting the car had driven under the pivot point and the overhanging bit had struck her, but it may well just have been a photo of a lorry at the circuit used to illustrate the article and have no direct relevance to the incident.
Regardless, it sounds like an extremely unfortunate event :(
