Alright everyone...an update on my project :-) my wheels are finished!!!
Campagnolo Low flange C record 28h track hubs laced to CB Italia wooden rims (Vintage stain). The tyres are Deda Tre Olympico Tubs.
Had them built by David at DCR Wheels, who did a great job building and truing the wheels over a period of about 4 days. The rims shift and settle during the build, so have to be readjusted as this takes place.
I am really pleased with the result and can't wait to ride them! Made a few other changes too. Gone is the Brooks saddle, replaced with this little beaut..
Just thought it ties the build together better than the Brooks...just a few bits and pieces and possible tweaks away from completion...the bars have some white tape waiting for them, which should go well with the matching c record brake levers.
I'm just debating whether to swap the popes with drop bars to achieve a more classic look that would be more versatile for riding. The levers would also look better on a set of drops I'm sure.
I'll keep posting updates with pictures...have another wheel option that I'm having built up next week...some Mack hubs to Campag Zonda rims...with a freewheel should be good for longer road rides, as I don't want to use the brakes at all on the wood rims really.
