^ Happens quite frequently - In this years Paris roubaix, many of the riders had FMB tyres with Specialized stickers on and Astana had ambrosio rims built onto shimano 105 hubs, both of which were covered with corima stickers
In those cases it's less about preference and more to do with necessity (sponsor doesn't make anything that's up to standard)
I think Lance Armstrong rode a san marco saddle with bontrager stickers on though.
