  • Fuck that, young bangers.

    ftfy.

  • Attempting Manchester -> Sheffield (Snake Pass) this Saturday.

Setting off at 9am from Salman's flat, hoping to be in Sheffield for lunch with a bit of luck, train or riding back depending on legs/weather. Couple of us doing it fixed, others with gears, anyone's welcome to join!

  • Mind the lorries...

  • I'll take the uncursed steamroller!

  • I'd leave Salman at home, just to be sure like.

  • I did Manchester to Sheffield (well Dronfield), via Winnats Pass on my fixed last year. Good fun, but only with 65 gear-inch... any higher wouldn't have been pleasant at all!

  • 65" is what I've been commuting on, was about right for riding to Tildesley and back this morning. Good for a 15-18mph average, depending on the terrain.

  • Forgot to plug here, the rapha van was on top of Mellor hill this eve for Mcr Whlrs club ride. Tough climb, great coffee, nice ride back.

  • did the second www.northerncoffeetour.co.UK ride today, great fun. more in future for sure...

Do you do this on a fixed?
I did the first bit, a route that I got off of the Man Tri forum.
    Brickworks-Goyt valley- Cat and Fiddle-Bollington.
    And it bloody killed me!

  • Do you do this on a fixed?

No, I think they are actual cyclists.

  • The brickworks etc (Holy Trinity) are best done geared, or with a spinny gear and a large tub of HTFU.

Hmm I've been thinking about getting a nice classic road bike recently, something late 80's, none of this carbon nonsense. I fear another bike in the kitchen would set the misses off big time though.

  • just explain the n + 1 rule...

are you in the Tri club, or just found route on their site?

Ha! I'll give it a try. I think buying a shed and a bike for her is the only way around it.
Not in the club but Dave Q invited me down for a couple of taster sessions at the Aquatics over the winter. I know him from swimming at dock 9. Hence I nose around on the forum sometimes.

  • Dave Q is sound, not been to dock 9 yet but have done some swims at aquatics and boundary. Good luck on the shed / bike combo...

  • anyone doing Critical Mass at the end of this month?

  • gonna try for this one... missed lots this year

  • Yeah, I've been meaning to go to one for a while but something always comes up on the day :(
