@AngelD: Omniums look good on any build too, but don't work with all chainrings (see the Omnium with FSA example one page back). You're right though, Sugino cranks look good on practically any build, with the bonus of working with all sorts of different chainrings in all sizes.

I'll have to post pics of the Giant when I receive and install the cranks. I think (my bank account hopes) that this may be the last big spend for a while.

You make a very valid point, hadn't thought about Omniums and other chainrings, and need to as hoping to slowly up the gearing as muscle strength increases.

Is the not working 'with all chainrings' purely an aesthetic thing?

Because I know that some of the SRAM MTB cranks don't play well with others due to different sizing.

And then there's their stupid 3 bolt cranks, just daft...
