Thanks again for the updates 8ball.
Seeing as this all happened on Friday and he went through an op, he is doing amazingly well ! Good news generally.

By way of encouragement, this time last year, a family member spent 2 months in intensive care with swelling on the brain. Every time they tried to bring him round, he lashed out and cursed, and we were fearing the worst, but we just had to be patient. When his brain had rested enough, there was no lasting neurological damage. Praying for the best!
This is very re-assuring, thanks

Had a similar injury myself about 20 years ago - made a full recovery apart from a little tinnitus in left ear. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soonish.

My thoughts are with MF and his family for a speedy recovery. It sounds like his operation went well and I sincerely hope he makes a full recovery.

8Ball... Great chance to put across how passionate J is about life and cycling on all levels and the massively positive influence he has on young peoples lives in particular through what he does on a daily basis... Beware the media machine though!

There were some wheels J wanted for sale on the forum, but the seller wouldn't post. My parents go down to Dorset quite regularly, so I nipped up to North London, collected the wheels, headed south to my parents who then dropped them off at his on the way to their destination.
J, fuelled by new-equipment-awesomeness, has been smashing it out at the Bournemouth track league, I believe, and for many weeks post-transaction would regularly update my dad and me on his placings that the wheels (and, lets face it, J's mighty legs) were propelling him to. And then he offered my parents some damson jam. And sent a little present up to London with them to help with my time trialling. etc etc. The guy's so keen, so eager, so kind, so excellent. The love needs to be spread.Riding with the Purbecks with him is always a pleasure, pissing around on the local hills (me on geared, him wrecking me on his fixed) less of a pleasure because I was second to the top most times, but still excellent. He better sort himself out so I can get some more stories out of him.

Sounds positive, so you could go for it if you felt appropriate.

I'd feel happier if J's parents made the decision - they may just be digging for shit - or have an angle - they've already tried phoning the hospital.
Update - sounds like a better day for J today - he's on the minimum sedation, can feel more pain (which is good) and CAT scan is clear. He's been more cooperative and has been less 'assertive'! He's had some physio today also. He's still not sure really where he is as he is probably still out if it. He's stopped some facial tick thing he was doing with his tongue. He recognised his parents voices as well today and Keith, who is maybe from the Bournemouth track centre (not sure).
He has a broken cheek bone, broken clavicle and broken scapula, his spine is ok.
All in all much more positive but still a long way to go. Still not visiting time I'm sorry to say
cheers all

That's for the update 8ball. Feels like I check this page every 5 mins hoping for more news. Great to hear of the improvements, and hope that he's ready for visits before too long, got to wait for the right time though.
Think Jason has a pretty good working relationship with some of the folk at the bomo echo, what with publicity for his work, so I think/hope that it would be genuine well wishing rather than digging around.

^ ah good point - I'd still still rather someone else made the call though. At the end of the day we're all so much more than a few lines in a local paper
