Blackberries do not use the mobile data network to get their emails, calendar etc. It is encoded on the GSM network in a proprietary way. This saves a massive amount of battery usage, hence the longer life. Other smartphones cannot compete on this.
No matter what you do, you will need to charge every night, or more frequently.
