Alternative: get a reducer headset and run a standard 1 1/8" fork? Plenty more options at reasonable prices?

Personally I'd keep pushing Halfords to get you one, £189 isn't so bad for a full crabon disc fork.

Could be worth getting a reducing headset, and a Salsa fork untill more options come along.
