  • I don't drink to get drunk.......not ever. I've been busy with stuff for the Olympics, so am sipping my drinks. It may take me a week to get through them. Shall report back later.

    come .on
have you even allowed a drop of the golden nectar to pass your lips as yet ?
    1st reveiw time surely
    you've had a whole weekend

  • I've done that very kit. Beer came out ok when you tasted it straight away. Decent 2 weeks later. 4 weeks later it was good. 3 months on and it was fucking great. Got 2 bottle left, both 6 months since bottling, saving them for a sunny day

Would quite like to give this a try.
Do i need previous homebrewing experience? What additional equipment is required to do it? Is it all bottle conditioned or cask and how long is the process to get it bottled?

  • So, I'm reporting back. I didn't get the Innis & Gunn, nor the Punk IPA (I changed my mind on that one) that I wanted,
so added a couple that weren't in my original choices. New list is:

McEwan's No.1 Champion - A decent ale, but not outstanding in any way
Brakspear Triple - Hoppy/malty, slightly sweet. A heavenly nectar.
Fuller's Golden Pride - Actually boring
Robinson's Old Tom - A stout-like ale, in taste and texture. not sweet. Clean. Refreshing.Warming.

    Bad King John -
Fullers Past Masters Double Stout -
    Fullers Golden Pride -
Theakston Old Peculiar - Texture of Guinness, with a faint chocolatey finish.

  • 'Bad King John'? Ha, some royalist.

  • The triple is good stuff. Although you are missing out by not having the Innis and Gunn and the punk.

They'll be at my pub next Thursday to meet, greet and sup some ale. I'll be working.

  • I just tried Hardcore IPA for the first time; it's about as bitter as I can enjoy, and felt its strength!

It's Chorlton beer fest on Fri/Sat for those in Manchester.

  • Oooooh!

  • At the Church?

  • Yep, St Clements. If it's like last year some ales will be on draught rather than just gravity poured.

  • Went a few years back but have been missing it since, might try and get there Friday but have the kid.

  • Innis & Gunn, made by Gods that were good enough to leave the recipe for us mortals.

Heavenly stuff. In my overly-opinionated opinion, its the most delicious ale I know.

Innis & Gunn on draught/tap news.

Please, someone tell me which London pubs have Innis & Gunn on tap?

......you are missing out by not having the Innis and Gunn and the punk.

You're late to the party. :-) Its already my favourite.

  • Good good, you had the rum cask?

  • Not yet. I'll seek it out once I've got through this lot.

  • The Innis & Gunn Canada day bottling needs to be on peoples radar too... It's really rather good

  • Good good, you had the rum cask?

Very good! I've been looking for the spiced version for a while without luck.

  • At the Sebright Arms independence day celebration tonight i had Brooklyn IPA, anchor steam liberty ale, flying dog snake dog and am currently enjoying a odell IPA. All are very good, especially the flying dog and odell as i had never heard of them and have been nice surprises and all of £3 a bottle!

    ftfy

I hear it's a bit damper than normal up there

  • Good good, you had the rum cask?

FWIW Waitrose in the Brunswick Centre have been doing the I&G rum cask at 3 bottles for £5 - at least they were over last weekend. Not bad value really.

Popping in tonight to restock so fingers crossed the deal is still on.
