My dear Son just purchased an old bike. The BB is Davis Components 60 62 but wondered if they supplied a lot of bikes? Rumour has it that it might be a BSA but the seat stay tops do not look like BSA I have managed to look at which wrapped around? It has a Heuret 5 speed, Middlemore Leather Saddle. I have found a serial number on the nearside drop out A204886. looking carefully it has a 26 inch wheel on the front and a 27 inch on the rear. Front brake is a Weinmann (made in Switzerland) and the rear break is a Universal 61 apparently used in Tour De France by some riders in early 60's.
Anyone any ideas?

Hi Everyone, I came across the opportunity to buy this frame (in my size) at a cheap price.
Does anyone have more information about this type of frame: maybe the time period in which it was constructed and the exact material (it's steel but not sure if columbus, reynolds,...)?
Thanks in advance!

-ThomasGreat Frames - I had a similar one from 1998, not as nice, it was made from Oria - the seattube sticker commemorated the use of Moser's by the Italian squad at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 - mine had Ergopower adjusters on the headtube rather than shifter bosses on the downtube, so yours is probably a little bit older - mid 90's I'd guess.

Thanks for your answer! I did a little further research myself, i suspect this could be a 'pro revolution' frame made from Dedacciai Zero Uno tubing (see photo for label).
I'm definitely not a big steel connoisseur however... Zero Uno should have about 175 KSI of tensile strength but not sure what this means in terms of strength/weight.

Following Rik's advice I've finally gotten around to taking some detailed pics of the track ends and seat stay areas of my mystery frame. Before it goes on the 'bay as an unknown, does anyone recognise anything about the frame? I've had a look through as many 60s/70s catalogues as I can find but have got nothing so far!
^^ The best thing you have to go on are the track ends - the seatstays meet the ends a long way back and the shape's pretty odd too - if you can get a match for those you're well on your way. - Flickr searches as well as Google image can be quite useful for finding a match
I have an early 60's Bob Jackson track frame - no. 4339 (1964) - it has standard campagnolo track ends (same lugs though - prugnat I think) so the date's probably fairly accurate.
The serial# format can also help to eliminate possibilities (the mass producers tended to have alphanumeric or relatively long serial#'s) and some builders had month/year type serials, it's also worth checking kilgariff's pages to quickly see if it's a holdsworth or claud butler.

-ThomasYes, I have a moser frame I'm about to do an SS conversion on and it is oria tubing. Here is a nice article;
http://italiancyclingjournal.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/oria-steel-tubing-for-frame-building.html
there's also a chance I might sell the original chrome moser forks. Let me know if you are interested and If I decide to sell them I'll give you a shout.

Can anyone identify these vintage Track Bars: Lauterwassers? Major Taylors? 23.8mm
I have no idea who made them but they look like Lauterwasser bars. They came off an Olympic track bike that had a mix of the best of the best (Dura Ace "10 Pitch" drive gear, Cinelli steel stem with orig painted badge, Campag Sheriff hubs, Assos Pedals....etc) so when I took off the bar tape off I was curious where it came from, I really love the shape so I went to my friend google and here we are.
The dia. for the stem bulge is 23.8mm, everywhere else is 22.2mm, the drop is approx. 15cm, overall bar width (c-c) 46cm.
Sorry for all the pics but it was really hard to photograph and capture the true shape of the bars. They are in really nice condition.
So who made these ? Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers

Hi guys, I just want to ask about the frame of the bike on the left. What type of frame is that and where I can buy such a thing?

Hello, just wondering if anyone might be able to help me identify this bike. Probably won't interest any connoisseurs but as it has a campag chainset/headset and shimano 105 brakeset and gearset I thought the frame might be a worthwhile new build for my girlfriend. there's three indentations you can make out just next to the serial number. the serial number seems to be p136801. any assistance greatly appreciated

Thank You for the help and pm's. With the help I think I've narrowed it down that the bars are from the 1930's and is one of the Reynolds Bailey track designs.

I just bought this Eddy Merckx, and I'm trying to identify it. It's obviously a respray, and a bad one at that. Looking through old catalogues, I'd guess it was a 1990 model, based on the look of the seatstays. The dropouts say "Eddy Merckx", the brake bridge does as well + it's got a "Silva" stamped underneath. It's got a tab for a racenumber and internal cabling for the rear brake. There's a hint of a serial number on the bottom bracket, but it's not readable (yet). It came with a Fondriest Dedacciai Optimal fork, which is probably not the original one...

Hi
I'm clearing out/sorting my garage and i have a tubular wheel that i bought used years ago (95!). I'm going to list for sale so want to list as correctly aspossible
I'm trying to identify the rim as the type label is not attached.
I think it's a GP4 but i thought LFGSS guys and gals would know for sure.
Any help appreciated. Thnx

GP4 seems like a reasonable assumption - what does the label say - I'm struggling to read it from your photo
^ That kick-stand bracket means it's not a "race" bike!!
My brother has a bottechia or bianchi or something, with muguards chainguard and a basket on the front, but it has a pressed steel campagnolo rear mech running on a 3-speed rear block - they didn't really go in for internal hub gears in italy so their clunkers had rear mechs with shifters on the stem. I'll see if I can get him to fire over a photo of it.
Do you have forks for it? What are your plans?
