  • @ PGM is that blood on the C'dale?
    What happened?

  • ^^^ Is that your blood or the 'Dales?!

I quite like those carbon Langsters, wouldn't mind meself.

  • I had words with the back window of a parked van. Raining, head down, up a hill, I looked up and was about 2 meaters away and went streight into the rear window. Fucking stupid. Its now been 6 weeks off the bike with 2 cut tendons in my hand, Back to riding again next week though. Cant wait!

The Langster Pro (last year it was the S-Works which I would have prefired just cos Im a showy cunt) is Aluminuim with a carbon fork. Its not drilled for brakes so I will have to get an extra fork (drilled) for the longer rides.

  • Oh, I thought they did a carbon version, but I've been wrong about lots more in the past!

Really sorry to hear about the accident, any long term damage?

Good luck with making a full recovery and getting back on the bike as soon as poss.

  • Nah, shouldnt be any long term damage. I should be back to normal in about 5 weeks. Untill then it will be light riding. Being tendons its a pain in the arse, I dont want to risk snapping them so am having to take it easy. Cheers!

  • how do they compensate? I've seen tighter clearances on slacker headtubes..

edit: just seen they're 20mm tyres...

I was able to squeeze a 23mm in actually, but the clearance was so tight, I got a little scared of the pothole wheel-downtube touch scenario.

    This frame has porn potential.

Thanks, however it's going to be my city beater, probably freewheel and two brakes as it's drilled back and front

  • I look forward to posting my completed project, an old TT frame with an offset seat tube. It's just in paint now after having track ends put on and shifter bosses removed.

  • ^ Hmm, sounds interesting.

You got any 'before' photos so we can see the original?

  • Is it necessary to carry that much liquid?

    No.
But its nice and convenient, I find myself drinking properly instead of forgetting to and in 10 miles time realising that i'm a bit dehydrated, I can also stash a couple bars/gels in it, and there is always the bonus of distributing the carried weight more equally, so my rear isnt so heavy.

  • I attempted to wrap my bars á la harlequin, its not great, but considering I'm pretty bad at wrapping normally, I'm content.

  • its not great

    ...it's GRRREAT!

  • No, YOU'RE bartape

  • Got the 20mm tyres and quickly put this together for a first test ride and i love it!
Please ignore the shit saddle and its angle, will be replaced by a flite or concor asap.

Viennese RIH, steep and tight as föck

    wow, 20mm. and still toiiight..

  • User manual for Wound Up forks says do not use stems with wedge style clamping mechanism. So I cant use an old thomson elite? Dang where am I gonna get my hhsb vibes now (in silver)

  • Steel steerer?

I know people running that setup.

  • the track model has carbon with an alu tube inside. You are supposed to use 1" star nut with it, quite an interesting design

  • That should be fine with an internal alu sleeve like that, just make sure it goes all the way down.

I can only assume they're covering their arses.

But I am just one of the unwashed masses and no expert!

  • sorry so you want to use a quill stem?
[the wedge clamping part makes me think so].

  • [the wedge clamping part makes me think so].

That's because you don't understand the concept of a wedge-clamped AHead stem

  • No, a Thompson stem has a crap wedge clamp design. It shouldn't be used on carbon as it puts a crushing force on the tube.

  • Crushing force which should be negated by the alu sleeve.

  • I think...

  • You know what? Just ignore whatever I'm saying, it's probably better for your health. >_<

  • Using a crushing force to clamp a tube is a poor design anyway, not worth the risk when there's plenty of other betterer stems around
