  • the only bike i've had stolen was in Peterborough, and was locked 50m from the police station

  • SO someone walked into my home and stole my bike. In process of obtaining frame number, contacted cops already.
The frame is 52/3cm. Forks are now black. Saddle white San Marco.
Would appriciate people keeping an eye out. It's incredibly unique paintwork.
my number is 07522 821625 if anyone has info.

    Cheers,

  • Taken from outside the Old Vic theatre, Waterloo, tonight between 9 and 10pm, my daughter's Foffa singlespeed. One month old!!

Black Foffa single speed, white wheels, cranks and saddle, bullhorns.

Any info please call 07736 060386

  • ^ I'm sorry to hear it, I'll keep an eye out. How was it locked?
As others have said, this would be a really useful resource if people documented what locks they were using, as it lets people know which locks to avoid in future.

  • Exactly the same happened in Cambridge Heath Road a few days ago; cable lock cleanly cut.

cable locks may as well be made out of licorice laces, utter waste of time

In all fairness, thats what happens when you own a brooks

Cable lock means that you may be able to stop someone with a multi-tool alone. There's not much else you can do other than a bike chain (still breakable).

So what's the best way to secure a saddle to a frame? I've only used cable locks or bike chains... Didn't realise people were cutting locks to get at them to this extent. I guess if you have a brooks you need to take it with you. Jeez.

  • Some kind of locking bolt/s - if you can stretch to an Atomic 22 then do so.

Otherwise, spot of super glue and ball bearing in all the bolts.

  • My sister had her brooks stolen which was cable locked. They cut the cable lock and only took the saddle, leaving both quick release wheels, even going to the extent of taking the saddle off the seatpost and leaving that. Should be grateful i suppose but seems mad that it's that targeted to go to the extent of leaving an £150 wheelset.

  • a few pages back there was a report of someone sawing through a seatpost to steal a brooks.

even though the seatpost was clamped with a QR

  • This is one of the reasons I don't want to own a Brooks. Thieving scumbags that don't know anything except which items will score them enough dollar for their skag will always target them.

Yet, some stupid motherfuckers will still buy them from a market like Brick Lane with the knowledge they were most likely stolen before they bought it and then cry when it gets stolen from them.

Good call on the atomic stuff - hadnt heard of that.

  • This thread makes me not want to get my bike shipped down to London! What's the best locking solution?

Have a read of the locks that work thread and be careful where you lock up, paying close attention to the area and the thing you are locking to.

  • There are an unbelievable amount of stolen Brooks saddles coming up on ebay at the moment. All one day listings. All in London. I despise these people. I own one of the green riveted B17's and was thinking of selling but you cant compare sale prices as they are all nicked!

  • Sell it on here then. Anyone buying one from a one day eBay listing is obviously a wanker anyway.

Seen this on gum tree today guy doesn't even know measurements of his bike and it is a particularly sparse post at a pretty cheap price for the components.

    Anyone missing this????

  • My rents live in Godalming its not known for its bike theft. Also the guy does list options like look pedals i think its legit.

  • Stolen in brighton, if someone will see it please give a ring 07827494238.

Despite the vague description, I think it's probably okay.

That's the formerly fair price for a bike like that before fixie skidderz started coveting Spinergy's and the like.

  • My fiancées bike was stolen this morning in Bankside at around 12:15. It is a vintage black claud butler road bike set up as a single speed. It has bright halo tyres, pink tape on the drop bars and pink bar top levers. The front wheel has a black rim and spokes with an unusual spoke pattern. It has a white selle italia ladies saddle.

If you see this bike please lock it up and contact me on 07858374044.

I will try and post a recent picture soon.

    Thanks

    Steve

  • It is the bike in the rear of this photo although it no longer has the stickers on the top tube and has a different front wheel (tioga) with black rim and spokes.

  • If anyone is missing a celeste coloured ESB, I just saw someone riding one brakeless down to broadway market. He had a bin bag full of tyres, so though he might be one of those dodgy bastards who hang out at the bottom of London fields...

  • Mate of mine got his bike nicked yesterday evening. If anyone's seen it, please PM me.
