  • Yo!

Let's all go to Brighton again! Have set up a doodle poll with potential dates so get voting!

    http://www.doodle.com/562tqn7p89cdpffd

Same old, same old - lovely social pace, no one gets dropped, plenty of stops, ice cream on beach, train home. Lovely

Am happy to lead the ride and as such, boys are welcome as long as they are good with the above steady pace, not dicking around etc etc.

    Go!

  • In!

    Doodled.

  • Yay! Something to look forward to =) doodled

  • Good, I got three ladies who been looking forward to such ride, so three provisional pluses.

  • Awesome! Will fill in the doodle....

  • I vote for Scoble in a dress. On a Pashley.

  • Does riding my town bike to Brighton last time doesn't count?

We can make it into a fancy dress ride, ladies dressed as gents, gents dressed as ladies to confused the roadie in getting them uncomfortably excited.

  • Hurrah! Glad to see people are up for it. Spread the word!

  • Feel horrible that I'm still not up to this.... Soon ladies soon...

  • doodled... just bear in mind that 26th is the Keirin so some ladies might want to attend that.

  • In! MUCHO fun, can't wait

  • Nice one Poots. Have put my name down for some dates. Really hope I'll be up to it by then. Something to aim for. x

  • I put my name down too. It will be my first LFGSS ride ever, if it turns out to be a date I can make.

  • Brilliant. Even though last time I did this ride and blacked out at the bottom of ditchling I swore I'd never do it again. (Again, many thanks to the ladies that carried me and my bike up!) If it's a date I can make I'll be there, hopefully with a non-forumenger in tow.

  • ín! awesome!

  • Loving all the doodle action on this ladies!

Any thoughts/feeling on when to close the poll and set a date?

  • Doodled. Super duper excited!

  • I put my name down too. It will be my first LFGSS ride ever, if it turns out to be a date I can make.

    Woo!

  • Myself and 2 friends are doing London to Brighton on the 8th Sept. I've convinced them to do it single speed so we won't be going fast. Just saw that date was an option so happy to hijack or join up if that date comes through for you all

  • Put my name down on the old doodle for dates fingers crossed It can be a date I can make !
    Looking forward to it x

  • I was going to suggest Saturday Aug 18 as I have a friend in town and I think we'll be riding down there anyway, but it's not on the poll....

just an FYI - you probably won't be able to get a train back with bikes during the Olympics or Paralympics. July 27 - Aug 12, and Aug 29 - Sept 9. On Southern it sounds like the entire time from July 27 - Sept 9.

    *From Southeastern's website:*

During the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; Friday 27 July to Sunday 12 August and Wednesday 29 August to Sunday 9 September, we expect many of our services to be much busier.
**So during the London 2012 Games only compact folded cycles (e.g. folded Bromptons) can be carried on our services into and out of London at all times. Conventional (non-folding) cycles may not be carried.

**The cycle policy also applies to joint Southeastern and First Capital Connect services operating south of London Blackfriars (between London and Kent). This temporary restriction will be lifted once the Games period finishes.

    *From **Southern's *website:

During the London 2012 Games, we are expecting our trains to be even busier than usual. We will welcome fully folded (Brompton style) bikes on our trains at any time, however, in addition to the usual peak time restrictions we have in place further restrictions will apply throughout the period 27 July to 9 September.
Non fully folded bikes will not be allowed on any Southern or Gatwick Express train on the following routes:

    • Any Gatwick Express service
    • Mainline services between London Bridge/London Victoria and Gatwick (including via Redhill)
    • Metro routes
    • West London Route between Watford Junction and East Croydon

**Southern Cycle Policy during the Olympic Road Cycle Race
**The Olympic Road Cycle Race event will take place on July 28th and 29th. From start of service on 28th July to close of service on 29th July, non fully folding bikes will not be permitted on trains between London Bridge/London Victoria and Box Hill & Westhumble on routes via Mitcham Junction, West Croydon, Sutton, Epsom and Horsham.

  • Good call ^

'London to Brighton Brompton Ladies Ride'?

  • Bums! Was vaguely aware of the restrictions but totes had figured it into plans.

It's a bit early for my brain to work this out but is there a way/route round this or do we have to wait until all the Olympic shizz is done?

  • Well we could ride back...

  • There's a different route back via the Surrey Hill which make it up to 190km.
