Main bearing oil seal leaks oil on to clutch plate, spark plugs foul with carbon deposits, piston rings get gummed up, are the likely effects. And if you are only tootling around on those continental jaunts it won't help, you need to open the throttle some more to burn off those deposits (once you have changed the clutch plate)
