That bridge looks fine for an 80s Merckx.
Is the fork crown flat or sloped?
Only just noticed the pic you linked to! So it's not a corsa extra as the guy stated, but weirdly seems to have corsa extra forks.
Does that mean that it's not made from SLX tubing? According to that advert the corsa's were only made with SL.
Makes me feel suspicious as it's made up in the Motorola paint job with an SLX sticker on. Would somebody have taken the time to respray (very well!) a merckx corsa frameset to make it look like an SLX corsa extra?

Or, after a bit more research, particularly here:

...and here:
http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/eddy_merckx3/
...I think I might have been sold a strada frameset that somebody has resprayed at some point to make look like a team motorola corsa extra SLX. Unless some motorola strada frames were made with SLX tubing?!?
Should I ask him for my money back? I believe I have a case with ebay's buyer protection scheme if I can prove it's not what it was described as in the listing right?

I've taken some more pics in the hope someone will be able to shed some light on this mystery...

Have you checked here?
I have yes, did a search for 8775 (number on the BB shell) and nothing came up.
I've emailed the factory but from what I've read on a few forums they're not likely to get back to me.

Dear LFGSSists,
can anyone help me identifying this frame?
Beside the master and a few other big classics, I do not have an extensive knowledge in Colnago framesThanks!

thanks for putting my ad in the right thread!
for what concerns the photos: I would like to buy this bike, and this is all I managed to have from the seller.
The brake bridge is visible in one of the photos, and it has the usual Colnago brake bridge shape (same for instance as in the Master frames) + the colnago panto. -

BrunoI think that MIGHT be a sprint super made from Cromor tubing, late 90's if it is....

Looks like it says London on the seat tube but can't find any details of a 'Condor London' anywhere. Any ideas? (Know it's not an fg/ss BUT a friend of mine has a nice Condor fixie!
Many thanks in advance,

Does anyone have any ideas on the origins of this frame? Some of the guys over at Bike Radar have pitched in that it's either made of piping or scaffolding. Pretty sure scaffolding is more likely as it's steel :P
I think it's Italian. BB is an odd 70mm width, 35mm diameter. Rear dropout is stamped. No discernible labels anywhere on the frame, no serial numbers etc.

Difficult to tell from just one picture - what makes you think it's italian? - the italian BB shell is 70mm vs BSA 68mm but it's 36mm diameter..... There are also french, swiss, and raleigh BB threads..... more info here http://sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-bottombrackets.html
The best bet is to see if you can get hold of cups and screw them in as per the diagnosis table!!Definitely steel and definitely old - absoloutly know idea who made it - Frame number's always a good place to start....
Have a look here http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/frame-numbering.htmlThe other good way to home in on what you may have is in the details....
a modern frame with steel dropouts is crap, not so with old frames - Rear brake bridge is the next place to look - if it's a nicely mitred tube you've got a quality vintage frame, if it's sheet steel or flattened tubing it's more likely to be a clunker!
Then look for quirky bits and see if you can spot them on other bikes - e.g. that little eye above the dropout - is it for a chainguard or some early derailleur system? There also appears to be a gear cable routing over the BB - so presumably it's a geared bike. The chainstay brace close to the BB - is that just a folded bit of metal for a prop stand or a mitred tube etc.Hope this gives you a few pointers - enjoy the detective work....!

Hi there,
This week I bought a NOS Raleigh Ti framenumber WS9000848 dating1979-1980 Worksop Engeland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raleigh_Bicycle_Company)
It is build with reynolds 531 tubing and has suntour and weinman brakes. Really funny the bike is still wrapped in 30 year old paper just from the warehouse where it is has been stocked by a bikeshop owner among 300 (!!) other bikes (gitanes motebecane, raleigh and attached ubnion rini wagtmans with 6000 arabesque) and nos frames (colnago, champion mondial, zullo). It was like a time capsule with alot of cycling goodness. it all has been sold in 2 days in amsterdam (frames all at once by one amsterdam collector, i arrived one hour too late). the bike also has a little dutch manual on it. i will sned some pics later on.
I really can not find any extra info on the bike. does someone have an old scanned brochure?
many thanks!

Thanks for your input Rik! I took notice of lots of small details on the bike but didn't know what to make of them.
The bottom bracket as Italian threading and it was giving me a massive headache yesterday and the day before trying to source a bracket at my community workshop! Aye aye aye :P At first I thought it could have been French but when I figured out the threading, I became convinced it was Italian.
Here are some more pictures of various parts of the bike.
Other side of top tube
Kickstand mounting plate?
Head tubeDoesn't look like anything too revealing. It was a geared bike, I'm pretty sure from the 126mm rear dropout width. A clunker with a kickstand and chainguard seems to be the verdict :) I will try to find a number on it, maybe that will give me a year or manufacturer! All this sleuthing is making me hungry...
