I was wondering what is a good place to get a cheap fixie frame set that would be good for my first ever bike build, any help would be appriciated :)

ebay or trawl the forum classifieds.
Just make sure you look for track ends or horizontal/semi horizontal dropouts.

^^ and don't buy anything listed as super awesome cool fixie...

something like this would be ideal, and will provide you with loads of parts to save your budget on 1st build. You'd make some money back by selling derailleurs, chainset, rear brake, bars etc and replace with your parts of preference.

this is such a cool picture.
not sure if its matt lugs, pearl blue forks or headset and stem, but it totally does it for me.It's a forum members from the HHSB thread that I cropped to highlight the stem. It's a little ratish with the matt black, but I really liked it.
well almost finished now. just need the black tape. but it wont be near me till friday.
finally gone a bit hhsb...but who cares.A sweet build, very tight.
4 Bikes.

That Raleigh, if its the right size for you, is a very good idea.

Early days for this one - adjustments, bar tape, saddle and other bits still to be made, but I've been having way too much fun commuting on it. Looking forward to doing some longer rides in the future - I'm envisioning it as a sporty light tourer, but we'll see. Many, many thanks to 1jonnyboy and saarf for helping me get the bits together. Will update when it's all done (apols if poor quality - phone pic).

-Alu all day track bike
-Steel Track Pub beater (my friends actually ride it when they come along)
-Steel Track only bike
-Steel Distance geared bike
-Nice geared show bike (just looks awesome, i keep it above the couch)Pretty much the same here, kind of need to get that nice steel track bike though.
Although the friends that come over don't have to ride my beater, they're comfortably on the back seat of my tandem.*
*causes a lot of drunken fun

Kind of think everyone that's really into track bikes should (have) own(ed) a full NJS bike at some time right?
-
• #62966
Or a full UCI bike.

only if they're blessed with a large amount of money.

^^^^^^^ I have 5 bikes, more or less, plus 3 frames.
Steel rat track frame hack (about to sell, decided it's a little too small)
"sensible" fixed (Pompino with guards)
Alu/crabon roadie
Alu/crabon hybrid (haven't used it in ages, sitting waiting to be sold)
Then I've got all the parts for a steel light tourer, just awaiting assembly. Then a charge plug frame, 60's steel frame and my old mtb frame/parts.

I feel left out now, I obviously need more bikes!

Or a full UCI bike.
My bike was passed by UCI approved commissaries at some championships and international events, does that count?

No.
Some parts which happen to be NJS but still. No.

No, they are utterly pointless unless you're actually competing in NJS controlled races.
I would go so far as to say that anybody who has an NJS bike without needing one isn't really into track cycling, they are either poseurs or cycling ephemera collectors.
