I'd go ahead. As its custom you can think of something clever to make it suit the build.

I think the r i t che y stems have a nice sleek look to them.

Also I think you should sort of future proof the design/style for carbon forks, as you may want them in the future.

Steamrollers are 1 1/8" and they're no overly chunky looking.
