6pt reckons he could do it 19–20mph average solo so we'll be looking to improve on that as a group. I will also endeavour to teach him that his choice of unit is inferior.
People doing the fast ride one way will be frowned upon (unless they happen to carry on for a solo century warm down).

FAST GROUP PLEASE NOTE:
20mph over this distance is 'actually fast', not just 'forum fast'. I don't know what object's thoughts are on the matter, but as previously mentioned I plan not to stop, and not to go easy. If you're in the fast group and you can't hang on, you better have a contigency plan, or shuffle over to the slower group.
Owing to the above riders in the fast group should be prepared to get themselves to Bletchley if they fall off the back. Again self-sufficiency is key.

Equipment
spares -make sure you have spare tubes and tools - Self sufficiency is key. If you cant fix your bike you need an exit plan.
Food - have whatever you need for 85k.
Money - Have some. you may need to get home from outside london in a taxi if things go pear. It has happened before and it will happen again.
Maps - For your own safety know where you are and how to get home. OS maps, print outs or Garmins are welcome.
phones - although there is often no coverage it is essential to be in touch. make sure you have some numbers on the ride.
Etiquette
Ride leaders / backstops - the general gist of it is that leaders get pissed off when other riders shoot off the front stretching the ride and then making it more likely that people get lost etc. Backstops are the unsung heroes who often find themselves helping out the lost and the tired.
Shouts and hand signals - We do not recommend waving cars through for liability reasons. We do recommend shouting 'single up' to get riders in front over to the side so the car is past as soon as possible.
Messages - pass messages forwards or backwards clearly.
ALL:
The meeting point for the ride is the church on Warwick Avenue.
This is the route that we are using
