  • I stayed here a couple of times before I moved to Berlin:

    http://www.globetrotterhostel.de/

It's a hostel but a relatively quiet one, in a decent area with a lot of bars/food around. There are double rooms there as well, so you can do Berlin on a proper budget and have more money for the bars/food. There are hostels all over Berlin that will also do double rooms, look at the cheap but well-reviewed ones that do private rooms on Hostebookers as you can get some great deals that way.

  • planning a trip from Amsterdam to berlin in march, nice too see some hotels recommended

  • Currently sitting in the excelsior, somewhere near a zoo. Basic business hotel, same as all business hotels. No idea of the price.

    #not helping much am I

  • Can anywhere recommend a bar / cafe in Berlin that shows cycling coverage and would likely to be showing the Tour of Flanders on April 1st? Out there for the Berlin half Marathon and would like to catch the end of the race if possible!

    TIA

  • nice chaps there, I have indeed watched live coverage in there myself, great coffee too!

  • Keirin cafe is not open on Sundays.

  • need a cheap place to stay with a good location?

  • need a cheap place to stay with a good location?

Is that an offer or a question?
If you're looking for a place to stay, I'd recommend Three Little Pigs hostel...it's cheap and is almost bang in the centre of Berlin on the border of Kreuzberg and Mitte.
There's not much on its doorstep though

  • I have hear really review of this place, but havent been mymyself

  • Going soon. Anyone been here? http://www.cicli-berlinetta.de/ Looks amazing.

  • Yeah I used to live just around the corner, and have mates who live around another corner. Only ever peered through the window though, from what I remember it is quite a minimalist place with just a couple of frames dotted around, which I found a bit daunting, rather than a big browseable collection. But I haven't been for a while.

  • they change location, now they have a BIG place full of italian awsomes, but pricey
    worth a visit

  • Hello
Does anyone know of any shops where I can get Knog lights? Keirin?
Mine just got stolen (no - not from my bike - I'm not that stupid!) and I can't buy things online yet.

  • This place near Storkower Straße S-Bahn has them. But less corporate places almost certainly do too.

Try Fahrrad Linke in Prenzlauer Berg, I like that place and they always have lots of stuff in stock.

  • Thanks! I'll check out Fahrrad Linke first, because I like the website's twinkly intro..

  • Keirin definitely has them.

  • Great, good to know because that's nearer me and I like Keirin..thanks.
    (and it coincides with Burgermeister!)

  • If I was visiting Berlin for a few days and had a bike with me, are there any nice routes out of town to try out? Something 30-40 miles?

  • You could do some of the Mauerweg.

  • Also, there's a nice route down towards the Wannsee & Potsdam. If you take the road that runs along the Wannsee coast in the Grunewald, it's like Richmond park at the weekend.

  • Yeah I was going to suggest the same one. Kronprinzessinweg or something.

From my own relatively limited experience, rides of that length out of Berlin are more about the scenery than the roads though, like the ride out to Schlachtensee takes you to fascinating places, but down very dull cycling roads.

I would recommend asking the same question at Bikes Berlin

  • ^Kronprinzessinnenweg.

    Nearly right.

  • This city is fucking GREAT!

  • Going back in three weeks time. Golden Gate here I come!
