  • Shit, I just wrote standardize instead of standardise.

banned from all uk polo for 6 months.

  • We have set a good precedent (#IMO) to only allow bars with less than 20º of sweep

    joke or no?

  • Anyone actually spoken to they radball guys to find out their feedback?

Not even going to get into the should they/shouldn't they be allowed to participate in future tournaments but pretty keen on their perception of the game/how different it is from what they expected and point(s) of improvement if any.

  • I want to try a radball bike, they should play.

  • Ahem.

  • on a completely different subject to the radball bikes, is it time we gave goal refs whistles and the ability to call resets?

  • For what?

Not disagreeing, just curious, I'm not sure what the goalref would be calling that gives them the power to call that. A shuffle goal, I guess.

  • Potentially any infringement they see that the main ref might not.

  • Ahem.

    Better stay clear.

  • Potentially any infringement they see that the main ref might not.

    +1.

It's so hard to see everything from half-court, particularly around or behind goal.

  • Bigger flags? The Brighton ones were close to big enough.

  • Potentially any infringement they see that the main ref might not.

this works if your team is reffing, but maybe not so much if you have a random goal reffing.

  • We have set a good precedent (#IMO) to only allow bars with less than 20º of sweep (risers, flats etc.)

I must have missed that memo. So did the LHBPA & the NAH.

    Team?
As long as you have designated officials, and it is clear that any official (main ref or goal ref) may make a call, I don't see why all officials would need to be from the same team. Or did you just mean we shouldn't have "Beagle resets"?

  • Bigger flags? The Brighton ones were close to big enough.

IMO, those flags were a little big!

  • Potentially any infringement they see that the main ref might not.

But you have to be very careful to not have two different decisions made, the two refs might see the same thing, and make different calls.

So really you have to clearly define who can call what.

  • Agreed. I'd err towards a model where goal refs can alert the head ref, but the head ref has the final say.

  • Bigger flags and more vigorous waving.

  • Goal refs have duck calls.

+1. Having players argue with the ref is bad enough, but having refs argue would be worse. I am all in favour of line refs getting help from goal refs, and try to encourage it, but final decision has to rest with the line ref. On the other hand, a line ref that decided to ignore a goal ref who had a better view of a marginal call would have to be very, very sure that s/he was right.

  • Flags were too small, poles were to long, to be exact.

There does need to be a way for goal refs to get the refs attention, it may be a joke, but duck call would work perfectly!

I was goal reffing one of the later games, can't remember who but I saw an infraction and was trying to point it out to Tim (who was reffing) but the ball was already at the other end so he wasn't looking anywhere near me and with the crowd noise he couldn't hear me...

  • Goal refs should only be reliable witnesses, the game ref is the judge.

    Say what you see.

Were your cries for help muffled by his sandwich?

  • We used a duck call for a whole tourney as the refs whistle, it was hilarious.
