Great post. And congratulations that man.

I did the Blenheim Tri with a mate at the weekend (thanks again for the loan of the rack - it was invaluable and I owe you a pint or three) and despite it being a measly sprint your description of the run is eerily familiar. I blew up like the fat wheezy picked last for gym loser I am.

To be fair, the bloke I did Blenheim with had done a 70.3 three weeks ago in Austria and said he struggled on the run.

Thing is [excuses] the bike is quite hilly and being a sprint you tend to monster it. As I'd done bugger all road riding other than pottering round London's mainly flat London on the commuter for a year, I was feeling the burn quite badly before I'd even started the run.

The run too is hilly, weirdly longer than I'd trained for and it was a hot, humid, still day.[/excuses]

Total run fail. I seriously considred calling a day on my less than illustrious tri career afterwards but having slept on it have resolved not to let it beat me. Am on a mission to become a beautiful runner.

    Congrats again man. Sterling work.
