• Headed out with the mighty Bernie yesterday to Box Hill. The wind was fierce as we headed south but the route Bernie chose and the joy of smashing our legs was far superior. The highlight for me was box hill. Bernie and I had started off moderately and were soon being passed by two carbon zipp geared guys. They gave us the cursory comment, "wow, you two are brave attempting this fixed." Undeterred, we sped up to their back wheel, and much to their anguish maintained the +-20km/h. With about 300meters to the 'tea-stop' Bernie sprinted off from the back with me following, much to our domestique's disgust. 100 meters later and my legs blew, Bernie continued to hand out the pain! At the tea stop, in conversation with our two new friends, one of their final comments was, "perhaps i should add a fixed gear to my collection...haha".
The ride back was fast, as the wind shot us back to London. Was a morning well spent!
