Hey all,
My bike was stolen from Hackney Road on Wednesday Evening (6th June 2012). It is quite distinctive looking: a sort of light green colour, Felt Curbside with drop handle bars and a Brixton Bikes sticker on the front.
Some photos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/80069463@N06/
If anyone sees it please let me know!
Many thanks,
Adam

Posting on behalf of a pal of a pal:Posting on behalf of a pal - robbed from inside his house last night, in Leytonstone (along with his wedding photos, van keys, van, wallet, wife's handbag...nice people) - a Jack Taylor 531 singlespeed.
I had the frame restored by Mercian about 8 years ago and passed it onto my friend - it is in Mercian's Bianchi blue/green, with white luglining, rainbow banding top and bottom on the seat tube, Jack Taylor in Olde English script on the down tube and the Mondrian badges on the seat and head tube.
Since then he put on a standard set of silver, anodised, single speed hoops, Campag clamp on cable guides, Gatorskins, TTT panto stem, brown Benotto tape and the brown Brookes saddle. If anyone sees it for sale (possibly East London) or on the internet, please drop me a pm or give me a ring on 07775 860689. There is a reward for any information leading to its return.

Posting again here, looking for some help:
I found an abandoned bike about 3 weeks ago and have been trying to reunite it with its owner. Called 101 (non-emergency police) only to be told that they don't deal with this...instead they seem to have given me the council noise abatement hotline...which I have yet to call...
Any advice? Trying quite hard to get this back to its rightful owner and have so far hit a bureaucratic brick wall!
It's blue, found in the Balham area and is pretty knackered looking if anyone is missing it....
Cheers

forgot to say - it is a Cannondale road bike. Won't give away anymore distinguishing features unless someone gets in touch to claim and can describe it properly

Maybe contact the cycle task force who will take it more seriously, or go to the local police, it could be marked and then reunification will be all the swifter.

Muddy Fox Blade, Black/White - belong to anyone?
My next door neighbour has just asked me for help/what to do about a bike that he's come by that is clearly stolen.
Essentially last night he was in the hand in hand pub, streatham, when a dodgy bloke ('crackhead' as he put it), offered him a bike. he refused, so the bloke threatened him with a knife and demanded 20 pounds, to take the bike.
He obliged, and the guy left him the bike!
It's a Muddy Fox Blade, black and white colours. He's planning to take it to the police station, but I thought I would put an appeal out here to see if the owner can come forward, or ask for advice to pass on to my neighbour about who to take it to or contact - presumably cycletaskforce@met.police.uk ?
I will go around his to take and then post photos - but if it is yours, give me a buzz on zero double seven, double six, five eight zero two seven six
Is there anywhere else that's useful to post to?

Was a little distraught last night so will try again.
This is the frame but it had been built up from the ground up. Full Dura-ace 7800, Black wheels with DT SWISS 240 hubs and Stans rims with Sapim CX Ray spokes (all black), DEDA ZERO bar and stem. Black Toupe pro saddle and standard black cork tape. Was stolen at the top of East Hill outside the newsagents opposite Book House in Wandsworth Town. I was there with it just talked to a friend quickly inside the shop, literally disappeared in 20 seconds. I'm usually so careful but had a moment of insanity. Worst thing that has ever happened. Please everyone keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you see anything!

I lost a bike in similar circumstances a very long time ago. Perhaps the worst thing is that unlike organised bike crime in which you can be reasonably sure that the bike might appear down Brick Lane or on Gumtree, this is very likely to just have been an opportunistic theft. Your main hope is that the person who swiped it doesn't want the bike and will put it on Gumtree or eBay, or that you see it in the neighbourhood (as opportunistic thefts usually involve someone local who happened to be walking past).
Eyes peeled, but you should definitely watch the neighbourhood as it's more likely to pop up there than down the fence on Brick Lane.

+1
if you really want it back you should be at Nine Elms or Brick Lane right now, preferably with a camera and some proof that it's yours.

So, how many bikes were stolen at the nocturne last night?
-
• #8621
Hey all,
friend of mine had a fancy bike nicked late last night in Bethnal Green, 'Twas a white Genesis Croix de Fer, in every respect a touring bike. It was the first day of our cycle tour (we'd come from Brighton) to Eastern Europe. It was locked up with a pretty hench Kryptonite d-lock, not even a piece of that was left behind. We spent the morning at Brick Lane market, to no avail.
Looks like this.. -

I don't suppose Grandad's bike shop down in the open market is still open? Because there are many stolen bikes shifted down there.

Stolen Condor? Reason for sale is a joke surely...
The bike was bought from Condor. I still have the receipt with my name on it and Condor bicycle owner’s manual.
Really?

So, how many bikes were stolen at the nocturne last night?
I was quite worried that something would happen to mine but it all seemed fine. Forgot to take my frame protector off and it had definitely been moved further down my top tube but all there and in tact...
Every bike that I walked past to lock mine up, was still there when I left.
Well dodgy I reckon - report
