I switched to clipless today. Shimano PD M780 SPDs and Bontranger Soltice shoes (entry-level touring shoes).
I seem to have skipped the horrendous experienced people always talk about with clipless. Five minutes buggering about at the beginning and then no issues at all. After two hours of riding and lots of clipping/unclipping at lights, no falls and I found myself clipping in automatically a lot of the time.
Is this because I've been using Power Grips (on track pedals) for the last few months, or something? Is the whole 'clipless is scary and you will fall over' thing just wildly exaggerated? I'm just not seeing it.
I had this same feeling for the first week of riding clipless. Then I had two beers, got to an empty pedestrian crossing with a red light, and in the time it took me to decide I was going to stop after all, I'd forgot to unclip and fallen over.
Deciding you're fine with clipless after all comes before a fall.
