Why is it stupid?
A lot of custom motorbikes only have a rear brake, mostly US choppers, but its not exactly anything new (although I agree I'd want a front too).
As for its position, its as good there as anywhere else in the drive train, it doesn't necessarily have to attached to the hub, I think its an innovative idea.
