Sooo, in an effort to declutter my life before we move I might put my boards up for sale on the off chance anyone is interested? Haven't skated in anger for many years so it's just kinda dead space right now.
First up is something pretty dull - 7.75" unabomber deck, bones rails fitted(ie deck has been drilled), grindkings(probably 2, maybe 3 grinds on them), just fitted some 56mm Santa Cruz wheels. It's never gone further than the corner shop so is in pretty much perfect nick. It was a blank deck craply sprayed by a mate while drunk, can sand back and varnish if required. £35?
Second up is something a little more special, Aluminium vert deck(santa cruz iirc) with replacable wooden tail/nose(they're in very good nick although a little worn down. This was my park board for a long time and rides like a beast. Graphic has been slid up good and proper but only on coping so the alu hasn't been chewed up. Currently set up for cruising with trackers/3dm downhill wheels. £45?
Will post up some pics if there's any interest, they were up in a classified ad on here a while back but thought a little targeted marketing might be a good idea ;)
Also have an alva lord of dogtown deck painted by art/graffiti hero Xenz, no idea of value, probably more interest to art geeks than skate geeks....

Maybe into the cruising board, need pics though as I am finding it hard to picture.

I have used all kinds of non skateboarding abecs, then spin well for all of a few weeks but then get fucked. Especially as I am currently trying to learn powerslides. I want something tough and serviceable.

Unabomber is the thing with pink rails(unslid), gk's and unridden wheels, the one in the middle is the ali monster - if you set it up normally it pops and skates like an absolute dream but my route to the shop is rough so I put the cruiser set up off my Xenz/Alva and now it's fast as hell, sounds like a lorry and rolls for ever with no effort. It is a bastard to ollie with the trackers/3dm avalons 68mm though.
The Alva deck on the end may or not be for sale. Check xenz.org for his work, was painted while I was living with him about 6/7yrs back. Will probably hang it on the wall in our new place but we shall see.
If you're interested in a different combination of trucks/wheels etc then pm your thoughts. -

On the subject of that Killian Martin guy, a couple of mates of mine were working on the ad for that Channel 4 thing he was in not long ago as background skaters. Apparently he's a total dick bag in person.
Don't like his skating either, weird but not in a good way. -

I've decided to learn how to skateboard.
I'm 29 so about 20 years late I guess, I don't imagine I'll get very good but being able to carve about a park and ollie up kerbs would be good enough.
Am I mental?

At 29 you'd find yourself to be the youngest skater at Stockwell Park at certain times of the week.
Do it because it's fun, stop worrying about being old. -

try the new bowl at victoria park.
amazing.
i'd not been on a board in a year, went on saturday and tore it up.oldest there by a good few years, not a bad thing though. give a few years and join this lot: http://www.middle-age-shred.com/

Got myself a board so I don't gave to borrow the GFs and so we can skate together. I'm not really fussed about learning to do any tricks, happy just cruising about n I'm sure that as I get more used to being on the board Ill pick things up.
SadR, that vid is such a prime example of how skate vids are in a different class to bmx ones.

Dumb noob skater question here,
How the feck do you slow down? I'm running fairly big cruiser wheels so my board is proper rapid but the wheels are too grippy to slide or do 180s etc so once I start going I find it hard to stop!
-
• #673
Put one foot on the ground and start slowing it or give it with the tail, the other solution is to trade your wheels for ones softer.
See, I thought, softer wheels = more grip.
I had my GFs board (smaller harder wheels) in the car yesterday and had a quick shot of trying to slide it and it seemed a lot easier. The smaller wheels feel so much rougher than my big cruiser/filmer wheels though.
I've been trying the one foot down but my foot always seems to catch and skip. Probably just need to practice.

If you can pump, you can try the opposite, which used to be called wedeling. This probably makes no sense to you at all.
-
• #675
It didn't but youtube has videos of skiers wedeling so I think I get what you mean.
Ace!
