Hi all.
New to the forum, but I've been riding a single speed MTB for years, not in London however.
Been in London for 5/6 months and need to get back on a bike to get out of riding the tube/buses in rush hour!
Doing research on getting a cheap road beater for the commute.
Cheers, see y'all around.

Hi everybody
Looking to buy a fixed bike for daily commute and some rec biking on the side. My old bike was stolen so I thought why not try something new so here I am now, looking for a half decent fixed bike to try it out!

Hi, new to forum too, you can't beat fixed for commuting/training, much less hassle and cheaper than a road bike. I usually run 48/16T and can cope with all but the very worst climbs.

Riding a fixed commuter bike and doing road trips with my racer on the weekends.
looking forward to spending time here -

I've been bike commuting in London for a year (16 miles each way) on a 27-speed, and now I want to try a fixie. Recently I've been riding single speed to prepare myself.
I'm slightly concerned that once I get a fixie I may be unable to resist the temptation to ride through Richmond Park backwards.

New, but have watched for a while. Lots of Vintage knowledge, with a liking for UK bikes 1930 - 1970 and an occassional french folly.

Hi all.
I've been riding a single speed for years and I'm not afraid of gears either.
I've got many bike projects (way too many!) going on, and I'm always looking for advice and tips. I'm currently working on a vintage Bridgestone NJS project. -

Hello, been into bikes esp Road for a while now. Recently discovered the wonderful world of fixed and single speed. I do a lot of home mechanicking(made up word of the day) bike building, projects etc and have recently finished my first single speed/fixie frame. This forum has been an invaluable source of information for me recently and as i move on to my next project I'm sure it will continue to be.
Speak to you soon maybe....
Dan :)

Hi Guys and Girls
I bought an 80's Sun road frame on a whim with some bits attached and built up a cheap run around single speed from it. Really getting the bug so looking at bigger and better things.
Been checking this place out for a month or so but got an account to join in the action and to possibly make a few purchases :)

Quick newbie question.
How do you actually pronounce "DAS"? [does it even mean Do a Skid or am I being a chump and it's a way to identify newbie idiots?]Do you say it complete: "Do a Skid?"
Pronounce the S like a Zed: "Daz"
Or a wellspoken: "DArS"? -

More DAS related questions from a paranoid newbie:
Is it good etiquette to shout it out to strangers or only to buddies?
Is it funny or annoying to receivers?
Must you attempt a skid if it's safe, even if you don't think you can and will probably look like an idiot?
Ta. -

It's pronounced Dazs (as in Häagen Dazs).
Shout it at everyone, especially people on buses.
It will be well received. Hilarity will ensue.
It's always safe to skid. Whether you are an idiot or not. -
• #5046
Cool. I'll be yelling it at commuters on the train.
It will be well funny. -

How's it going, I'm Tyrrell, only been riding fixed a few months after giving up on road bikes, too much maintenance for me. Now riding a Charge Plug Freestyle.
I'm in Dublin, not much of a fixed community over here, can't even join the dublinfgss forum for some reason! haha

curious to learn more from here... just signed up. hello all :)
Hi All, became obsessed with cycling last year after catching the Giro on tv, got my first ever road bike at the age of 54! Found single speed not long after and picked up a Langster which I've now sold and have a Fuji track (2010, orange) and love it! Will post photo's soon. Cheers, Rob
