  • Just caught up with this, I cannot believe that a supposedly intelligent person is holding up the example of one deserving person being given an MBE as to why the monarchy is a good thing. The honours system is historically unbelievably corrupt, more often than not the people who are recognised by it are odious cunts who are interested in nothing that does not lining their pockets.

    That made me smile Bobbo.

I cannot like the monarchy for dishing out one gong. My point is this; that through clever management, with gong-giving, and national visits, one (her Maj), engenders herself, to we peoples that live in the Tropics. Its definitely clever PR, and it works a treat. They always ennoble the sitting Prime Minister, and this further ensures that he/she remains onside, and the trade show that is the monarchy, remains popular. Also, its historic. In the second world war, many Caribbean people went to fight against the enemies of Britain. Though we are not really a part of things geographically, we still somehow feel a (extended) part of the UK, and as such, view the monarchy, as ours. PMs are very temporary. Once out of office, no-one cares about them.

Yes. It has always been very corrupt, especially at the top.
