It worked for our lass...
Before xmas when we went for a ride together I could always tell whereabouts she was behind me because of her constant bleating and yelps of pain. Now I have to turn around every 100m or so to make sure she is still with me - and there she is, right on my wheel with a massive pain free smile on her face.
