  • For the people with the Nexus, does your gallery only show folders in the DCIM folder?

  • Galaxy Note got ICS on T-Mobile this morning.

  • Samsung has open sourced its Android 4.0 operating system implementation found on its Galaxy S3 smartphones.

  • Choice paralysis has made me plunk for the Orange Dolphin 7 SIM-only deal for 12 months, together with £50 quidco cashback, which works out at about £2.80 a month.
That leaves me free to procrastinate about which phone to get. Even if I switch to a deal with another network it'll only cost me £34 in overpaid line rental.
I'm not sure it was a helpful move, given that I'll probably still be procrastinating next May!

  • Well, Velocio might not have got on with the one x, but I'm still liking it.

    3 important things for me.

The battery life is better than my desire S.

The camera is pretty damn good, rapid fire is good for getting any action shots, plus you can photo whilst videoing, and the editing on the phone is pretty effective. I would prefer a dedicated camera button though, don't know why HTC don't do these.

The sound quality when listening to music, I would say is fantastic. Of course this will depend on your head/ear phones.

You soon get used to the size, I like the sense front end (i'm not enough of a geek to want to start messing around rooting it or whatever, enough of a geek to appreciate adapting it here and there to my preferences.)

  • One thing I think I'll miss when I upgrade is the seemingly indestructible nature of my Nokia E5. Sure, it's a smartphone of a bygone era, but it's full of dents from various drops, it's been soaked through several times when riding in the rain and simply sitting in the pocket of my shorts and it just hasn't batted an eyelid. The battery will happily last 2-3 days of medium usage, too.
I fear that handsets like the One X or SIII will simply refuse to take such abuse.

  • This is my 4th HTC... I try to be careful with my phones, but probably managed to drop the one x 4 or 5 times the first week getting used to the feel of it... I've seen numerous smashed up iPhones but never had any problems with my HTCs. Haven't bothered with screen protectors or cases since the first, and they've been fine. Don't know about battery lasting 2 - 3 days but don't think that many modern phones offer that...

  • I'll just have to suck it up w.r.t. the battery life - the advantages outweigh it, but I'm glad I'll be budgeting for 12 months not 24. Not sure any phone can last 24 months of me.

  • Joys of insurance.

  • Rumours of Galaxy Note 2, maybe due in October. Want.

I'm pretty sure it will be a quad core phone though, and not dual core as stated.

  • Just flashed an ICS Rom on the desire Z, (JIBsandwich i think its called).

It's vanilla, no sense etc, very nice! Really smooth OS.

  • Anyone else have problems with Chrome loading blank pages? I mean it's a lovely browser and its lightning fast, but this is a major annoyance.

  • Me, seems to come and go though. Flicking between tabs solves it for me, I only really get it on here though.

  • The worst thing seems to be that you can't refresh to reload the page. If you flick through the tabs and back it will reload a cached copy of the page? but it will disappear again after about three seconds. There doesn't seem to be much on the web about the problem either?

  • Looks interesting although haven't been able to find it in Play Store

The screen is really nice resolution wise although isn't quite as smooth as the iPhones.
