spent 9 1/2 hrs in non-stop sun today. crisped up the lines alright =/

Seems you guys liked the sun then; we spent four hours in the shade yesterday while clocking a century.

Good morning! I did make it, just passed out within about 15 seconds of getting out of the shower.
To anyone I've ever claimed Maxxis Re-dude are awesome because they can be full of cracks and splits: I retract this in full. I did most of that ride with 30psi in my front tire :l

Oh god I've just tried standing up. Maybe 80GI wasn't the cleverest idea.

Secretly I think you knew that before you left.

(well done though)

I did actually drop down to 48/18 when I was having a moment of being lost related despair in the New Forest.
I just had to map the route I actually did to make sure the a35 hadn't stolen my double century from me. Think I'm good, even with the extra weird bits around the a3 etc where Ride with GPS refuses to believe there's a bike path.

You made it! well done. In that heat too. Very impressive.

Thursday's afterworker to Cowden for a pint of Harveys is still on. Will post the route later. Also doing a non afterworker on Monday (ie day ride), likely to be a century to the swimming ponds at Frensham and back. And possibly a fixed cake fix to the Blue Egg farm shop in Essex on Saturday (bout 100 miles as well).

Here's Thursday - leaving 6pm junction of Whitechapel and Osborn

And here's probably-Saturday, though I might tweak it to go out on the Woolwich ferry.

What time on saturday? (not too early and I might think about it...)

The problem with (sort of) reversing that route for thursday is the orpington bypass - it's a fun fast ride down into sidcup the 'right' way round, but not the nicest way from sidcup to orpington.
more pleasantness to be had by continuing down sidcup hill through footscray to that maidstone rd roundabout, taking third exit on sandy lane past the ski slope and golf course and continuing that way through st mary cray, onto chelsfield lane etc. Could then even drop down towards shoreham and along filston lane/london road before popping out at the roundabout at the bottom of star hill.
/aware that giving rosie non a-road route suggestions is a pointless exercise

Fancy leading? :D
(at slow pace obv.)
re time Saturday: fairly early, though not as early as last time when I got there at 8.30am on a Sunday and the shop was closed. I think I'm supposed to be back in London for something in the afternoon, so maybe 8ish? Not much later than that.

dernying on thursday hopefully. supposed to be at work exhibition opening though, so might not even make it there. will attempt to set up a garmin with it though, maybe?

• #1668
I will add your route directions to my cue sheet :D

8am on saturday... I think I might be sleeping. If your plans change and you go later in the day then let me know. Or if the whole thing changes to sunday :)

Rosie, you can't go to that pub in Cowden without doing Furnace/Smithers lane (just to the West) first. It's not allowed.
If the weather's good I might be up for that. Could make up the way back as we go along.

Is that the one we did last year that you said was your favourite?
Also, here is Monday's not-afterworker. It's flat and it ends up at souths and everything. Quite looking forward to that.

Hey tricitybendix
would be quite keen to join on the thurs eve ride - do you ride fixed (what ratio/) or geared?
I haven't done a long ride in over a year so could be a little rusty....whats the pace like?
Cheers -

I'm keen on the Monday ride, but I have a B-day party in the evening to attend. Around what time are you planning on doing it?
Almost there (LR) I believe. Clocked up another puncture :/
