Still rather be insured for 10 years and not have to claim, than buy a bike and have it nicked the next afternoon.
Peace of mind on something like this is pretty important to me.
Use a car evey day - you insure it (well, you have to), but if you didn't and it was destroyed and you couldn't afford to replace it, you'd be screwed wouldn't you?
No different with me biek IMO. Going to find it hard going without a bike for a week let-alone 2/3/4 months to save for a new one
