good luck 'dan sounds like a mission, i reckon putney bridge will be heaving.. best to watch from richmond park outwards if you want to catch the race at more than one spot.. and plan a ride which avoids the course... security on the route will be tight #shoottokill
Fair point, it might be harder to do this than at the ToB. just as well there are plenty of miles of road to find a spot but I'm still open to being scuppered by security.
Watching road cycling at the roadside is a bit shit though isn't it?
That's why I'm doing a ride, rather than paying to sit on Box hill. Ideally I'll get 40-50 miles in and get to see the race fly by with a couple of picknick stops on less popular bits of the course.

Would be good for a forum meet up and ride to catch the race in a couple of places...hoping to watch a bit early on with family then catch another bit a little later on- that's my well formulated plan!

i was thinking that but I havent decided if I'm going to go for the Men's, Women's or both.
The chances are that the women's race will be more broken up so could be better for watching live.

I intend to do both...

Channel 4 News has some information about the road race. Nothing which will come as a surprise to those who know the area, I imagine.
Their graphic artist went out and did the course. He posted a blog about it too.
Edit: He really needs to run a spell checker against that blog post

No worries, if it's closed - we offroad !
Nope - we'll just be doing what is open - interspersed with stops @ cafe's/pubs !

Saw a French team car in Deptford with their posh bikes on top of the bmw estate last night while riding home. They seemed lost.

Phil Gil has pronounced Box Hill a "big ring" climb
-
• #64
That's hardly surprising as it is a big ring climb.
The gradient is only 5% (The often quoted 14.6% is on two of the hairpins and lasts all of 3 metres). -

Just back from Hampton Court, Swiss team in hotel near bridge. Saw members of them in terrace, although cannot confirm if Cancellara was having a full English with fried bread.

Hey, its just like when the Tour was here and people out for a ride bumped into one of the teams lost in Essex.
Any one else spotted on Leyton High Rd ?
