remember it was meant to look like this:
Not much better, to be fair. Is that Ed's TT bike?

Snapped a pic of this pride and joy while coming down to TC. Colour code overload, chain, stem and backpack!

As Foffas go, this is actually not bad. On a comparative scale, it's almost porn.
yeah BLB saddle is a pretty good match for campagnolo carbon cranks

Gas pipe foffa frame is completely lifted by those wheels, and aero advantage seatpost.

to match the blood on your head, no front brake but a rear??
This deserves a post in the Epic Fail thread.

If I only had braking on one wheel I would always, always, always want it on the rear.
I've never come across a cyclist of any merit who disagrees. Make of that what you will.

OK, you want a race? How do we put this to the test? My front brake (with its far superior traction) against your rear brake.
Seriously, we have some lovely weather at the moment so why don't we step out from behind our computer screens and debunk this internet bullshit once and for all?

Ok I believe this.
If you've only ever met two cyclists who both happened to know nothing about both bikes and physics in general.

OK, we'll mark a line 10 metres from the roundabout at the bottom of Swains Lane then we'll both go to the top (on freewheel bikes) and ride neck and neck until we hit that line, then we'll both slam on our brakes.
Bring a lock with you, so that I can lock your bike up for you while you wait for the ambulance.
Ok I believe this.

If you want to talk about physics, please explain to me what happens to the moment of the wheel when the brake is applied in both of the scenarios?
With a back brake, I would imagine that the pressure on the front wheel will increase until the coefficient of friction is overcome, at which point the bike will skid.
With a front brake, I would imagine that the bike will end up pivoting on the front wheel, sending the rider over the handlebars.
MDCC likes a bit of engineering/physics, so he might want to confirm my take on the physics of braking and/or referee the Swains Lane race.

Omg
wtf

Serious offer.
If you going over your handlebars at 30mph is what it takes for you understand why you'd always run a back brake and not a front one (if you could only run one), I'm more than happy to partake in the race your suggested.

Why don't we just do a course that will involve some braking and see who wins?
Also, as I know how to shift my body weight, experienced MTBiker, I will take you up on your challenge also.
Your challenge is a brake test not a race, but like I say I will take you up on it :)
Let's make this really interesting. The winner keeps the opponents bike.

Of course you can go over the handlebars with a front brake. But with any feel for a bike at all then you can stop alot faster than a back brake and not go over the bars.
The only thing a back brake does better is brake on ice.

The only thing a back brake does better is brake on ice** through corners**.

I've never seen anyone have their front wheel wash out from using their back brake too much, or go over the handlebars for that matter. I have, however, seen lots of people control skids when their rear wheel has locked.
If you're desperate for the race, I'm sure I can find a course where only having a front brake will mean that you're going to crash. I'd challenge you to find a course where the same can be said of only having a rear brake.

the race is for the fastest time not whether it is possible to wipe out, I won't wipe out and I will beat you. YOU can pick the course, I can't really be any fairer than that.
