  • £8 when I did it a while back, although that was when it included the Novice session afterwards, too.

  • trackurday tomorrow !

  • Thanks all! See anyone who's going there tomorrow I guess...
    (Fixedcheese... Adam?)

  • My track service will resume next month. Not long now.

  • One final question... How much does the induction cost!? Sure the website says somewhere but I couldn't find it!

All of two clicks from the home page.

And to confirm, it's £8 for the induction session only. To ride the basic session afterwards you must first pass the induction, then return on another week to ride your first basic training session.

  • see y'all tomorrow

No one's ever gonna get this right, are they...

  • I'll be popping down for my first intermediates session tomorrow morning. What with all the food, cigarettes and lack of cycling recently, I predict it to be rather embarrassing.

  • I'm heading over for an induction tomorrow after Parkrun. Can I switch pedals or should I bring some trainers? Looking forward to it. Hoping it's reasonably quiet because of Jubilee....

  • You can switch pedals.

  • You can switch pedals.

Sweet. How long does the session last? I take it the first one is pretty chilled?

  • I saw the child session was rained out but is the track drying out? Planning to attend the basic session this afternoon. Are the intermediates riding?

  • gruesome ending to the intermediate

  • Ouch. Is that your bike?

    I hope no-one got injured?

  • stoking the drama^^
no wonder people are shit scared of track

  • ^^ one shoulder injury/ broken collarbone I think.. hope he heals up quick

  • not my bike but the spacers suggest someone with alien proportions. the tallest stack I have ever seen

Either that or It suggests someone with very, very poor flexibility.

Also, never leave bikes hanging on the fences, even if it's a part of a bike. Broken bones are no excuse for not obeying the rules.

Numbers would suggest otherwise. However, some of the riding would suggest a bit of fear might be a good thing if it means heightened concentration.

Numbers in London perhaps, but there's 9 million people live there.

Anyway sorry hope the rider heals up soon.

  • Was down there for my induction today, saw the crash. Was interesting for all us newbies to see that... Hope the guy's ok. Session was fun, but it was pretty frustrating going that slow. Also bloody painful cycling on flats in thin-soled trainers - didn't bother taking my own pedals. Think I'll buy some drop bars and take my own bike next week.

14 million, though a good portion of first timers travel from outside the boroughs of London's famous London.
I also understand that Manchester, Calshot, and Newport are heavily, if not fully booked most weeks.

If you're suggesting BCC has a modest turn out then I'll be down like a shot as I hate riding in massive groups!

  • Check the thread for race reports, be glad to host you, we had 5 for Chester hill race training this morning.
The point that's rattling me at the mo if I may say, is that track league numbers are low, and the nagging possibility is that sportives are rinsing it everyweekend- no membership, no license, no accreditation, sure this sector is prohibiting lots more potential trackies

  • I think the Bournemouth track is new and needs a little time to propagate. When I first started going to HH, numbers were low, no more than 20 or so on a Saturday. VCL ran free 'have a go' sessions on Mondays (after track league turnout had been very poor) with some mock races which were very popular and certainly got the message out there.

I'm actually surprised that BCC isn't packed every weekend.
