Gear lever on the handlebar, via cable, moves rear dérailleur cage in order to shift chain from one sprocket to another. It's all there in the picture. The front dérailleur is only there to stop questions from people who refuse to believe that the chain will stay on the ring without assistance on a 1 x n drivetrain.
